Creative Writing Lesson – In Your Lunch
by Elaine Ernst Schneider
Objective(s): By the end of this lesson the student will be able to: demonstrate correct spelling, strong sentence structure, and standard punctuation when writing paragraphs.
Basic writing skills should include correct spelling, strong sentence structure, and standard punctuation. For our first lesson, we will write a paragraph. Have it corrected for the above mentioned errors and then hang on to it! Next week, we will do some dissecting and rebuilding of the paragraph – a fun reconstruction wherein we can try out some variety of style.
In Your Lunch
Elementary: You just opened your lunch box and Snoopy popped out! Where does he take you? What do you see?
Junior High and High School: It’s a regular school day, boring classes, same old things. At last you hear the lunch bell ring. You sit down with your friends and open your sack lunch. There is no sandwich. There are no chips, no cookies. A mystery package has replaced all of that! Slowly and incredulously, you take the package from your lunch bag. Not only did it appear in your lunch, but it has your name on it! What is inside? Who sent it and why?
