Sometimes the preposition will have Compound objects. That means that there will be two or more nouns or pronouns following the preposition. I must go the the store and post *office. (store and office are objects of the preposition.) *Note that you include only the noun (which is office); the describing word (post) is not part of the object of the preposition. Sometimes
there is a compound subject in a sentence. Compound subjects means
that there are two or more subjects in the sentence.
Neither my dad nor my mother went to Mexico City. (dad and mother are the compound subjects.) (to
Mexico city is the prepositional phrase.)
NOW
YOU TRY IT
Cross out any Prepositional Phrases. Underline the subject once and the verb or verb phrase twice. 1.) Outside the building, the cats and dogs played. 2.) Milk or juice came with the meal. 3.)
Neither my hand nor my foot hurt after the injury.
ANSWERS
1.)
Outside the building = prepositional phrase
2.)
with the meal = prepositions phrase
3.)
after the injury = prepositional phrase
